Dancing is an ancient form of magic. The dancer becomes amplified into a being endowed with supra-normal powers. His personality is transformed. Like yoga, the dance induces trance, ecstasy, the experience of the divine, the realization of one’s own secret nature, and, finally, mergence into the divine essence. In India consequently the dance has flourished side by side with the terrific austerities of the meditation grove- fasting, breathing exercises, absolute introversion. To work magic, to put enchantments upon others, one has first to put enchantments on oneself. And this is effected as well by the dance as by prayer, fasting and meditation. (Heinrich Zimmer from his book “Philosophies of India.”)
Shiva, therefore, the arch-yogi of the gods, is necessarily also the master of the dance. Nataraja , King of Dancers echoes the same thought process. The only important thing to note here is that this is not an ordinary, mortal dance. The dance performed by Shiva is the dance of bliss – representing the cosmic cycles of creation and destruction. With marvellously unified and dynamic composition that expresses the rhythm and harmony of life; the dance of Shiva is unification of religious mythology and the basis of all existence and natural phenomena.
The same form which is represented aesthetically and artistically in Nataraja form by human culture has been observed and nurtured in abstract form by Mother Nature. The abstract symbolic form of Shiva’s cosmic dance is extracted from Narmada river and often called as Narmadeshwar Shivling. Also known as Banalinga, it is considered as the form of the formless. The Narmada Bana Lingam’s upright egg shape represents the Pure Consciousness of Lord Shiva and the Holy Markings on the Sacred Stone (which differ greatly from stone to stone) represent the interactive aspect of Goddess Shakti (The Holy Consort of Lord Shiva), the Divine Seed which is fertilized to manifest the Creative Power in the Dance of the Cosmos. Together, they represent the Union of the Supreme Male and Supreme Female Energies – Shiva and Shakti: the Wholeness and Oneness.
The Banalingas that are formed in the River Narmada contain Crypto Crystalline Quartz (masses made up of either fibrous or granular aggregates of tiny, microscopic Quartz Crystals) and a Gemstone material called Chalcedony along with Basalt and Agate – this unique composition coupled with elliptical shape has a precise resonance in alignment with our Energy Centres or Chakras and are used for thousands of years as Divine Energy Generators for Cleansing, Healing and for Meditation.
One of the most powerful symbols of spirituality, the Narmadeshwar Shiva Linga is found in the banks of river Narmada and is also known as Banalinga.
Unlike others, the oval shape of this linga forms due to the waves of the river that crashes into the stone(s). In fact, similar to a conch shell, you can hear the waves inside the Shiva Linga if you shake it.
It is this divine purity that we bring to all those who seek Lord Shiva’s blessings. We provide you the means to enhance your spiritual growth by being able to buy the authentic Banalinga, online.
