Maha Shiva Ratri The word Shiva simply means mangalam auspicious,having the potential, being capable of, boding well, being favourable or promising. Sha + ee + Va Sha = shareeram  or body ee  = eeshwari or life giving energy Va = vayu or motion. If  ee is removed from Shiva, it gets reduced to sha+va ,  means a lifeless body.
